Hatching Brine Shrimp using the Continuous Hatch 'n Feeder From Oscar Enterprises of America
Freshwater Use Brine shrimp hatch only in salt water. When you wish to feed brine shrimp to your freshwater fish you would have to hatch shrimp eggs in a marine water environment, collect hatched shrimps and then transfer them into the fish's tank. However, this hatchery is designed to solve this problem. Install the hatchery into your freshwater tank. This has two chambers. An aerated hatching chamber and a static collection chamber. The hatching chamber is filled with salt water and, in the collection chamber, the salt water and the freshwater meet and form a boundary due to the different specific gravities. In other words, they will not mix. The salt water will not flow out into the aquarium. Aided by the salt water and the movement from the aeration, the eggs hatch in the hatching chamber. After hatching they gradually move into the collection chamber, being attracted by the lights. The hatchery is so designed that more light enters the collection chamber than the hatching chamber. The shrimp will pass between the "barrier" slowly and, so adapted, they swim upwards and eventually into the aquarium. It is highly recommended that you use a lighting feature to produce enough light to attract the shrimp to the hatching chamber exit. Marine. The saltwater barrier does not exist as both mediums are in the same element.
